EASE is powered by a diverse team of passionate practitioners, health, protection, justice, research, and community leaders, working together across backgrounds and experiences. We embed gender equality and broader inclusion into how we design and deliver our work, prioritizing survivor dignity, safety, informed choice, and trauma-informed practice.
Dr Dawit Kassa
Dr. Dawit Kassa is a medical doctor and the co-founder and Executive Director of EASE which has worked to improve access to essential health and humanitarian services for hard-to-reach communities in Tigray by strengthening community-based systems. He is undertaking a Masters degree in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Policy at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and has delivered guest lectures at George Washington University and other universities. During the conflict, he led the only Maternal and Child Health Centre in Um Rakuba refugee camp in Sudan, providing care to women, children, and survivors of sexual violence, and supporting more than 40,000 people from refugee and host communities.

Dr Tsega Tewele
PROJECT COORDINATOR
Dr. Tsega Tewele is an experienced medical doctor with specialized expertise in sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and medico-legal response in post-conflict Tigray. Dr Tsega is under taking her masters in public health. She has played a key role in the management and coordination of GBV services, including collaboration with UNFPA-supported programs. Her technical expertise includes clinical management of sexual violence, survivor-centered care, inter-sectoral coordination, forensic documentation, and supervision of service providers.
Saron Tsegay
Project Manager
Ms. Saron Tsegay is an experienced humanitarian professional and human-rights advocate, with a strong background in community-based programming and survivor support. She is a graduating laboratory science student, bringing technical knowledge relevant to health service delivery, quality assurance, and evidence-based practice. Her expertise includes community engagement, safeguarding, program implementation support, data and documentation, and advocacy for survivor-centered and rights-based approaches.
Semira Gebreyesus
Semira Gebreyesus Tewelde is a child mental health assistant with EASE’s Rufta Child-Friendly Space. She holds a BSc in Medical Laboratory Science from Mekelle University and has researched atrocities and human rights violations in Tigray. Semira supports women and children affected by war, combining counselling, advocacy, and documentation skills.
She is a displaced member of the community herself and acts as an excellent role model for the children whome we serve.

Dr Daniel Cherkos
Public health engagement and Advocacy Director
Dr. Daniel Cherkos is an Ethiopian medical doctor, lecturer, and global health advocate. A graduate of Addis Ababa University with Honors, he leads public health engagement at EASE. He focuses on rebuilding post-war health systems and reaching vulnerable communities, bringing emergency response, trauma-informed care, and youth-led advocacy to advance equity and justice.
